djmermaid got me looking for information on Japanese work pants.

I found some. PingMag has a great article on Tobi (construction worker) fashion.

Gaah. Just what I need. More costume ideas (and I've still got I think 5 boxes of fabric to sort tonight).

punk yukata FTW!!!

I have to repair my yukata; I found it in a basement used clothing store in Tokyo and it wasn't in the greatest of shape at the time - now you can't even stash stuff in the sleeves any more. (one more thing to add to burning man prep list.) I also have a nice silk kimono which I must dig out for FC.

thanks again for the research - and the inspiration!

If you find some decent patterns let me know.

I think it's going to require a liberal application of wingit™

I've not seen any patterns. It's a hybridization of Victorian menswear and Japanese traditional clothes. If we come up with something we'll share the notes.
