Some parts of this job I hate.

We had to disqualify an entry in the Anime Los Angeles 2007 Masquerade because one of the presenters lied to the green-room staff about having a membership.

You did the right thing, of course. Silly girl. Again, not that she probably thinks she did anything wrong. *sigh*

Never pleasant, but this bozo double deserves it. 1. for the action 2. for being stupid in bragging about it 3. for bragging about it in a public forum in writing.

And she probably will think it unfair if she's looked at askance if she tries to enter another masquerade.

Oh joy, I've been following the ALA threads today.

Sorry you have to be the bad guy on the masq end.

ugh. what a dumbass!! sorry you have to deal with this.

I will admit, I have lent a badge out exactly once - every year on the last day at FC I have made a point to pre-reg for the following year. This past year, our habit backfired on us when we were informed that vendor fees for the furry marketplace had gone up and now included two badges - hence, we found ourselves double-registered. So when a friend of mine who is on a tight budget was considering showing up, I told her she could take on one of our extra credentials for the day she was able to attend.

I do not feel badly about this in the least, as we were honestly double-registered, and she was only at the con for one day anyway.

Frankly, I really wished that the con had set up a way for our registrations to be transfered to the vendor credential so that we would have been able to escape paying twice to attend - but since that was not possible, at least I was able to help a good friend to attend when she would have otherwise most likely been unable to afford to be there. (We also had a room for four nights and contributed to the con in other ways, so it isn't like we were freeloaders who snuck in, grabbed a prize, and then bragged about it on teh intarwebz.)

Well, if the reg was double-paid, where was the problem with her using a badge that was actually paid for? :p I would think you might have been able to take it down to reg and had them change the name on it - you bought multiple regs, she used one; it wasn't borrowing a theoretical single badge you had, it WAS also paid for.
