Well, we're back.

The drive Wednesday night up to kproche's parents was far less painful than it might have been. We had some clot between Hayward and 580, but from 580 north it was clear sailing. We did get in pretty late, though, so we just went to the hotel.

The hotel just happened to be half a block from Zippers Nightclub, and Wednesday was Karaoke night, so the place was busy. We ran into Emperor Markus (sp?) and a few other folks we know, had a few drinks, and walked back to the hotel after.

Thursday morning we got breakfast and went over to K's parents. We were just in time to meet Mike (who had driven up from SF that morning). Kelly came up a bit later, we had some dinner (good turkey, good stuffing, good sweet potatoes...) and we went to visit Don and Cheryl and their kids. We watched the L.A.con IV masquerade video (they really regret not going, but with two boys under 5 and a new baby--I think R was born before Worldcon--it wasn't practical). We left so Cheryl could go to sleep and get a few hours rest before going back into the hospital to deliver some babies.

After all that, we went down to Club 501 (the other gay bar in Redding). Who knew there was a gothy gay bar in Redding? Who knew there were goths in Redding? It's a bit smaller, and definitely a bit rowdier than Zippers, but it's pretty cool.

Friday Heather dropped off X (K's nephew) with "Grandpa" and "Mimi" to stay overnight, so we had a three-year-old at the house. We played with play-doh and crayons and other things that would keep a three-year-old occupied until it was time for him to go to bed. Then we watched Goldfinger.

This morning we got up, drove over, said good bye, and ran down to Livermore to stop at three wineries for their Thanksgiving release parties/club pick-ups. Had a good time, and came home. Kind of crashed now.

There's a gay bar in Redding...wow...and it's Gothy???
I knew there were Goths in Redding, cause I've met several in Sacramento and San Francisco, and Davis who were from Redding...there are even Goths in Manteca.

You must have had great traffic luck. While I was taking the train on Wednesday afternoon, every time I could see the freeways (I-880, I-680, I-80), they were wall-to-wall.

I haven't the foggiest why, but we've done several trips where we left between 5:30 and 6:30 PM (day before Thanksgiving and Christmas) and the only serious traffic problems have been Freemont rush hour to I-580.

Mind you, 580 was totally stopped each of those times...
