He's also the first Hawaiian President. What I just realized, though, is he's the first Midwestern President since Jerry Ford (who wasn't elected and didn't serve a full term) and the first Midwesterner elected President since Eisenhower.

All I know is I'm feeling really old now - this is the first president we've elected who is younger than I am.
Also, it is highly unlikely there will ever be another president who is older than I will be at the time s/he is elected.

And he's the first President from Illinois since Lincoln and Grant, although I thought Grant was from Missouri. At least he has a cabin there :-)

I believe he's also the FIRST senator to have ever won the presidency.
