My musical psychos!

I'm working on the League of Evil Geniuses "Death to Spies!" party mix for our party at Further Confusion.

I've got all the James Bond themes. I've got Music from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. I've got the soundtracks from the first two Austin Powers movies.

Please comment with your favorite spy-related songs. These can be obvious or obscure (such as the "Lando's Palace" theme from The Empire Strikes Back). If you're worried the connection might be too obscure, explain why you think it's a good choice.

Spy School Anthem from Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet is a good.
There's a couple of them on the Combustible Edison albums (Spy vs. Spy comes to mind)
I can't remember the name of the song, but it's about the worst spy for the USSR.

I love Moby's techno remix of the classic James Bond theme. It's a nice change of pace. Also, anything from the Austin Powers soundtracks, just to be cheeky.

Do you have Dionne Warwick's "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"? IIRC, it was written for one of the Bond films (possibly OHMSS) but it wasn't a theme song.

Both Warwick's version and Shirley Bassey's version...

The Look of Love and the Title Song from Casino Royal (1967 version)?

"The Look of Love" is on an Austin Powers Soundtrack. The original Casino Royale theme is a bit more difficult to get, but I can probably do something about that.

It was just an idea anyway. But in case you want it, that link'll get it.

Re: I love your parties
I've already got more tracks than time. Since I automate everything, I'm going to try to cut back to a 2-3 hour playlist; I'd actually like to have the music loop at least once during the party.

ai...

I'm interested in some spy music that is a little more upbeat... I'm going to be playing the opening night dance, and would love some good spy music that is dance-able. My yahoo im is sfaaron26, if you have some time to throw some tracks my way......

I'll see if I can throw together a data disc of the tracks I'm not using for the party.

Diamonds are Forever is a remix album of Shirley Bassey tunes. It includes a bunch of stuff that she did for Bond films. I know it's on iTunes Music Store.

yes! then there is Secret Agent Man in Spanish, from the Repo Man soundtrack... Hombre Secreto! I believe the band is the Plugz. Good instrumentals by the Plugz also on the soundtrack album (which I used to have on vinyl, speaking of "you people are all too young"!)

That's why I asked for Danger Man. Wasn't that the predecessor to Secret Agent Man?

Nope, actually the same show - British Name was Danger Man and then when Secret Agent Man got linked to the show in America, so it got the name change and new theme.
I know it will be random, but Secret Agent Man followed by the Prisoner is mandatory. :)
Remember, I will always be 42. And I am Not of Man, I am a Free Number!

Danger Mouse is a Secret Agent and thus belongs in the collection.
Henry J. Cabot Henhouse III is many things, but he is not a spy.

Oranj Symphonette's "Baby Elephant Gunn".

The whole darn 1966 Modesty Balise soundtrack. Ditto Our Man Flint, which I think was '65..

Spy Hard, is a must, too.

Check out John Zorn's album Naked City. It includes "The Sicilian Clan", "A Shot in the Dark", "Chinatown", and "The James Bond Theme", amongst others. The album is very heavy, featuring Zorn on Sax, Bill Frisell on Guitar, Wayne Horvitz on Keyboards, Fred Frith on bass, Joey Baron on drums, and Yamatsuka Eye on vocals. The cover art is "Corpse with Revolver" by Weegee, with interior illustrations by Maruo Suehiro back in 1989 a decade before Manga became all the rage!

Also check out Ultra-Lounge's album TV town: Prime-Time Tunes from the Tube. This collection features covers of "The Naked City Theme", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", "The Spies", "The Fugitive Theme", "The Mod Squad Theme", as well as other great hits performed by groups like Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra, Al Caila, Si Zentner, and others.

Gotta have the "Third Man" theme. Certainly intrigue, if not actually spying.
