Holy mother of God...

Do whatever you have to.

Find a video of this year's Eurovision Song Contest winners, Finland's Lordi and their performance of "Hard Rock Hallelujah."

cherylmorgan points out that Eurovision usually features and celebrates the most insipid pop to come out of Europe, and there perhaps hasn't been anything good since Abba won 30 years ago (though Russian teen-faux-lesbian sensations TaTu were a bit edgy a few years ago).

Lordi isn't insipid pop. I'm not sure it's good, but it's definitely different. This ain't your father's Eurovision Song Contest.

Oh, if you have a chance, watch the whole finals as broadcast by the BBC. The BBC announcer is amazingly bitchy...

That's the first time I have every heard Terry Wogan called bitchy... I guess it works. To me he is just the voice that burbles out of the radio as I drive to work.

The bands video is at

and there are links to the eurovision performance on the page.

Actually, I was wrong
taTu never did win Eurovision, another Russian group won around 2001 (Rusala).

but...

in 1998, Katrina and The Waves won the thing! That's only ten years or so after they had their one big hit in the US.
