Who is going to Costume-Con 24 in Des Moines this year? if you are, are you planning to enter in either masquerade?

Can't make it, because it's the 30th Anniversary of WisCon the same weekend. WisCon has always been "our" con. We are having a Venetian Carnival themed party--I'll send you some pics.

I'm skipping BayCon, and we were Fan GoHs last year...

What exactly makes an entry acceptable for the Historical Interpretation category? I have this really insane idea I would like to try, but am a bit unclear what would be acceptable for this category.

All you really need to do is show documentation of a period garment or style it's based upon.

Darren Bost once entered a lion mascot costume wearing a cartoonish Roman chariot-racer's kilt. Of course, he also entered the 4 Mooseketeers (4 mooses in cavalier costumes and a cardinal in cardinal's robes as Cardinal Richelieu). Dora Buck did a rev-war styled dress in flag prints for a silly Betsy Ross costume.

Thank you, that is very helpful! It seems like the historical interpretation category is not as strict as I thought it would be. Looks like the Monkey God in Chinese court costume would fly then.

Interpretation is very open. A mythic figure dressed in period-inspired costume is perfectly kosher.
